Knowing who does what
Your supervising social worker supports you as a foster carer; the child’s social worker has a different role in their care plan. Schools, health professionals and other services may also be involved. The council where you live is not necessarily the authority responsible for the child. Before a match, ask who coordinates education and additional-needs support, which appointments are already arranged and how information will be shared with you.
The people around you
Fostering Hearts provides preparation, training and a supervising social worker who supports you as a carer. Existing carers also have urgent out-of-hours support. Ask how supervision and training would work from your home in Coventry; recruitment enquiries are answered Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
If you already foster, bring your experience and questions about moving agency. Any children currently living with you need to remain central to the planning.
