Fostering In Norfolk

Norfolk is a big, mostly rural county, and that shapes fostering here. Children who can’t live safely at home come from right across it: the streets of Norwich, the coast at Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn, and market towns like Dereham and the villages in between.

When a foster home can be found nearby, a child usually gets to keep the things that hold them steady. The same school. The same friends. The same Saturday football club. That continuity does a lot of quiet work while everything else in their life is changing.

The trouble is there aren’t enough carers in the county, so children are sometimes placed miles from everyone they know. Local carers change that. At Fostering Hearts we recruit and support carers across the whole of Norfolk, from Thetford up to the north coast, and we stay beside you once a child arrives.

Why Foster With Us?

Fostering Hearts is an independent, family-run agency, and we keep things small on purpose. You won’t be a case number here. You’ll be one of a small group of carers and social workers who know each other and work closely together.

Your supervising social worker looks after only around six families, so they genuinely know you and the child in your care. You can reach someone at any hour, day or night, because the hard moments rarely arrive between nine and five. You’ll be fully trained before your first placement, and the training carries on long after.

We understand that fostering is a significant commitment. That’s why we offer competitive fostering fees — £479.50 per week for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+ — alongside emotional and practical support the whole way through.

Foster with us in Norfolk and you’re joining something that feels local and personal, with people who turn up when it counts.

“We are dedicated to recruiting 44 new fostering families in Norfolk over the next 36 months, we want to make a real difference locally”

Benefits of being a Fostering Hearts Carer?

All of our foster carers receive a weekly fostering fee of £479.50 for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+. This recognises the dedication, time and care involved in providing a stable, nurturing home.

Beyond the fee, it’s the support that carers tell us makes the difference. Our carers have access to 24/7 support from our agency, ensuring guidance is always available when needed. You will also receive regular supervision visits from your supervising social worker, who supports a small number of families, around six of them, which keeps support consistent and personal, wherever in Norfolk you live.

Our Mission: Unlocking the Potential in Every Child

At Fostering Hearts, we are committed to helping every child who comes into our care move towards their full potential. We provide our foster carers with tailored guidance, training and practical resources so they can create stable, nurturing homes where young people feel safe enough to grow and explore who they are.

Through everyday experiences — from supporting hobbies and interests to planning educational outings and making space for meaningful conversations — our foster carers help children build confidence and discover their strengths. Progress often happens in small, steady steps, and we are there to support both carers and children throughout that journey.

We recognise that every child has individual needs, experiences and talents. That is why we look beyond the immediate and focus on the whole child, ensuring they have a secure environment where they can express themselves openly, develop new skills and begin to see what they are capable of achieving.

If Norfolk is home and you've been wondering whether you could foster, start with a quick, no-pressure chat. We'll answer your questions and explain how it works from here. Book a call back whenever suits you.
