Becoming a foster carer is one of the most meaningful decisions you can make — but it is not something you are expected to do alone.
At Fostering Hearts, support isn’t an add-on. It’s the foundation of everything we do.
We understand that caring for vulnerable children requires guidance, reassurance and practical help at the right time. That’s why we build our service around strong, responsive support for every carer.
24/7 Support — Whenever You Need It
Fostering doesn’t always happen between 9 and 5.
That’s why we provide 24-hour support, 365 days a year. If you ever face an urgent situation, you will be able to speak to a member of our experienced team.
You are never left to manage alone.
Your Own Supervising Social Worker
Every foster carer is allocated a dedicated supervising social worker.
Unlike some agencies, our social workers support a small number of families — typically around six — which means:
- Regular supervision visits
- Quick responses to questions
- Time to build genuine relationships
- Personalised guidance
This close support helps you feel confident and well-informed at every stage.
Ongoing Training and Development
Fostering is a professional role, and ongoing learning is essential.
We provide:
- Pre-approval training (Skills to Foster)
- Regular training workshops
- Safeguarding updates
- Trauma-informed practice training
- Development opportunities tailored to your placement type
Training is practical, relevant and designed to equip you for real-life situations.
Financial Support and Transparency
Foster carers receive a weekly allowance once a child is placed.
At Fostering Hearts:
- £479.50 per week for children aged 0–10
- £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+
This is designed to cover the cost of caring for a child and recognise the responsibility involved.
We are always clear and transparent about finances so you can plan with confidence.
Careful Matching
One of the most important forms of support happens before a child even arrives.
We prioritise thoughtful matching, ensuring that:
- The child’s needs align with your approval
- Your household circumstances are considered
- Expectations are realistic
Good matching reduces disruption and supports long-term stability.
A Community Around You
Fostering can feel isolating if you don’t have the right network.
With Fostering Hearts, you are part of a community of carers who understand the journey. Whether through training sessions or informal contact, you are surrounded by people who genuinely understand the role.
Support for the Whole Journey
Fostering can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also be emotionally demanding.
Our role is to ensure you feel:
- Heard
- Backed
- Valued
- Prepared
Because when carers feel supported, children thrive.
