Fostering In Newmarket

Newmarket is famous the world over as the home of horse racing, but behind the Gallops and the studs it’s an ordinary working town, and it has children who can’t live safely at home and need somewhere steady to stay.

When a local foster home can be found, a child gets to stay at the same school and keep the familiar shape of their week, whether that’s watching the string head out at dawn, a club after school or Saturday in town.

Being a smaller town on the edge of the county, Newmarket doesn’t always have enough local foster carers, so children are sometimes placed a good way off. Local carers change that. At Fostering Hearts we recruit and support carers across Newmarket and the wider Suffolk area, and we stay beside you once a child moves in.

Why Foster With Us?

Fostering Hearts is a small, independent, family-run agency, and we mean small. You won’t be a case number lost in a big organisation; you’ll be someone the team knows by name.

Each supervising social worker supports only around six families, so the help you get is personal and consistent. Someone is reachable by phone at any hour, and your training begins before your first placement and keeps going long after.

We offer competitive fostering fees — £479.50 per week for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+ — helping to provide financial stability while you focus on caring for a child.

Foster with us in Newmarket and you’re joining something local and genuinely supportive, with people who turn up when it counts.

“We are dedicated to recruiting 27 new fostering families across Suffolk, including Newmarket, over the next 36 months, we want to make a real difference locally”
Emma Rawlinson, Registered Manager

Benefits of being a Fostering Hearts Carer?

All of our foster carers receive a weekly fostering fee of £479.50 for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+. This reflects the responsibility and dedication involved in providing a safe, stable and nurturing home.

Alongside competitive fees, we provide strong and consistent support. Our carers have access to 24/7 support from our agency, ensuring guidance and reassurance are always available whenever they are needed. You will also receive regular supervision visits from your supervising social worker, who supports around six families, which keeps support consistent and personal, wherever you are around Newmarket.

our job is find the spark in every child

At Fostering Hearts, we are committed to helping every child build confidence in who they are and what they might achieve. With tailored guidance, practical resources and ongoing support, our foster carers create stable, nurturing homes where young people feel safe enough to explore their interests and strengthen their skills.

Whether it’s supporting education, encouraging hobbies, planning enriching activities or simply making time for open, everyday conversations, our carers provide consistent opportunities for growth. These steady, positive experiences help children feel valued, heard and capable.

We look beyond meeting immediate needs. Our approach focuses on the whole child — ensuring each young person has the space, encouragement and stability to understand their individuality, recognise their strengths and move forward towards a brighter future.
