Fostering in suffolk

Fostering In Suffolk

Suffolk is a big, largely rural county, and fostering here reflects that. Children who can’t live safely at home come from all over it: the streets of Ipswich, the coastal towns of Lowestoft and Felixstowe, and the market towns and villages spread across the countryside.

When a local foster home can be found, a child often gets to keep the things that steady them. The same school. The same friends. The same club on a Saturday. That continuity matters more than it seems when the rest of a child’s world has been turned upside down.

Suffolk simply doesn’t have enough local foster carers, so children are sometimes placed well outside the county, away from everything familiar. Local carers change that. At Fostering Hearts we recruit and support carers right across Suffolk, from the coast to the western market towns of Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Haverhill, and we stay beside you once a child arrives.

Why Foster With Us?

Fostering Hearts is a small, independent, family-run agency, and we like it that way. You won’t be a case number passed around a big organisation. You’ll be someone the team actually knows.

Each supervising social worker supports only around six families, so the guidance you get is personal and consistent, and there’s always someone to reach at any hour of the day. Your training starts before your first placement and carries on well beyond it.

We also recognise the importance of stability. Our fostering fees are £479.50 per week for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+, helping carers focus on providing the best possible care.

Foster with us in Suffolk and you’re joining something local and genuinely supportive, with people who turn up when it counts.

“We are dedicated to recruiting 22 new fostering families in Suffolk over the next 36 months, we want to make a real difference locally”

Benefits of being a Fostering Hearts Carer?

All of our foster carers receive a weekly fostering fee of £479.50 for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for young people aged 11+. This reflects the commitment, responsibility and dedication involved in providing a safe, stable and nurturing home.

Alongside competitive fees, we offer consistent, high-quality support. Our carers have access to 24/7 support from our agency, ensuring advice and guidance are always available when needed. You will also receive regular supervision visits from your supervising social worker, who supports a small number of families, around six of them, which keeps support consistent and personal, wherever in Suffolk you live.

our job is find the spark in every child

Foster carers provide steady guidance and encouragement, helping the children in their care to recognise and develop their strengths. Through support with education, access to hobbies and activities, and open, honest conversations, Fostering Hearts carers create home environments where young people can begin to rebuild confidence and believe in their abilities.

We are committed to helping every child discover their own sense of possibility. With patience, structure and positive role models, children can start to see beyond their past experiences and move towards a brighter future.

At Fostering Hearts, we focus on more than meeting immediate needs. Alongside safety and stability, we prioritise emotional wellbeing, personal development and opportunity. By providing nurturing, supportive homes, our foster carers give children the space to explore their identity, build resilience and work towards becoming confident, capable adults.
